Here's a video we created for the launch of Mèreadesso, a boutique cosmetics business based in Toronto, started by Linda Stephenson. Linda has created scrubs, toners and moisturizers using natural ingredients from around the world. Our job? To bring together visuals that showcase the variety of ingredients and the places that they're sourced from. All this had to tie in with the branding image of the product, and the design of the website. No small feat, when the design elements are black and white, with tiny, thin fonts!

The video was also crafted so that it could be used as a backdrop for a live performance, with an on-stage presenter speaking over the music. Although we would have loved to travel the globe to gather the images, all the video was sourced from our library of stock footage.

The Electric Wallpaper Company has added a bunch of new high-definition video gear to the list of equipment.

First up, the Panasonic HPX300.

This versatile camera records in a variety of video formats, both standard-definition and high-definition. All the footage is stored on P2 media cards - no more videotape. The footage is downloaded directly from the camera to the disc drives of my editing system for instant access. My video production clients who regularily use Sony's popular EX cameras will find similar quality in this camera, but with a greater variety of features. Anywhere you can use an EX1 or EX3, this Panasonic can do the job... only better.

Avid Media Composer screen

Also new is the Avid Media Composer high-definition video editing system. The arrival of this system means I can retire my old standard-def Avid, which has served reliably and valiantly for nine years. The new system features the latest version of Avid Media Composer software, just released a few days ago. Projects can mix and match material from a variety of video sources, so no matter what format you're shooting on, this system can handle it.

And coming soon...

What good is a camera without a jib?

The E-Z Jib is a boom system designed to create smooth camera "crane" movements. The camera can be moved in any direction, left or right, up or down, up to ten feet in the air. This is a tool that adds a professional look to any production - even ones with small budgets. And it can be set up in about five minutes.

What does all this new gear mean for Electric Wallpaper clients? More versatility. More options. Better video quality. And faster turn-around on projects.

The Electric Wallpaper team have created a new online promo for NightingalesTherapeutic Spa in Bloomfield, Ontario. This "webmercial" highlights just a few of the healing services offered by the spa. So far, reaction has been great. It's hard to watch without feeling like you need to book a session there as soon as possible.

KUDOS

"Working with Electric Wallpaper has given me the confidence to take on more and more projects, because I have yet to go over budget on anything I've edited there. What is quoted is what it takes."

Tracey Anderson,
Indepedent Producer

"Just wanted to pass along my thanks for the great job you did on the B&D video. It was extremely well received by all at the sales meeting! In fact, our General Manager commented to me that "it was the best video he had seen in his 20+ years at Black & Decker."

Brett Maves,
Black & Decker

"It's good to have an editor who cares about my project as much as I do. I never get the feeling that I'm just working with a button pusher."

Chris Hollinrake,
